The Hot 8 Brass Band performs July 10, 2013, for the Grand Teton Music Festival’s Wednesday Spotlight concert
JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming – June 20, 2013 – The Spotlight series at the Grand Teton Music Festival kicks off on Wednesday, July 10 with the funky and energetic sounds of New Orleans’ own Hot 8 Brass Band at 8 p.m. in Walk Festival Hall. The Festival’s Spotlight series highlights artists and groups that perform everything from jazz and classical crossover to Broadway hits, Big Band sounds, flamenco and more.
Born and raised in New Orleans, members of the Hot 8 Brass Band have been playing together since high school and are regulars at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, also known as Jazz Fest. The group has gained recognition by performing across the United States and touring Japan, Italy, France, Spain, Finland, England and Sardinia. The Hot 8 epitomize New Orleans street music and have been featured in two Spike Lee documentaries. On July 10, they will be playing in Jackson Hole at Walk Festival Hall.
The 2013 Spotlight series on Wednesdays throughout the summer also includes The Collective, an a capella group which features Jackson’s own Isaac Hayden; crossover pianist Christopher O’Riley; the Entreflamenco Company; The Richard Brown Orchestra and Bravo Broadway!
Tickets to the July 10 Hot 8 Brass Band spotlight concert are available at $40 for adults and $10 for students at www.gtmf.org. All Spotlight performances are held at Walk Festival Hall located in Teton Village and begin at 8 p.m. Locals’ rush tickets are available 30 minutes before the concert at a price of $15 for anyone with a Wyoming or Idaho I.D.
